I’m always plugged in some musical stuff or whatever. Music is for real the fuel of my life I don’t know why…
My father wanted to name me Euterpe the Muse of the music. Maybe it started there? Well anyway I’m far away to be a muse or a expert in music.
But I love to discover new things and that “new things” don’t mean new music. Sometimes I discover new good old things like my new idol Billy Childish
I knew already The Headcoates but I dint know behind it there is Billy Childish and much more about this genius and talented British man called Billy Childish.
Some months ago, well last year I was in SL hanging out with a friend in a pool with some piranhas and a shark biting us. It was a tense talk I remember but we had a station turned on in that place and I was really enjoying the weird punk set I was listening and then the owner of that place arrived and we started to talk and so on and we ended up talking about music and then I asked her what station was that we had on and she said: ohh a nice one from new Jersey: WFMU and she sent me the url address and I started to read their blog and also look for their old programs.
That’s for sure one of the best online radios in the world. WFMU's programming ranges from flat-out uncategorizable strangeness to
rock and roll, lots of "
alternative" (although no DJ on the station would ever call it that),
psychedelia,
experimental, obscure 50s-60s
blues, unpopular
jazz,
R&B,
soul,
reggae,
garage rock,
hot-rod music,
78's,
8-tracks,
twee,
indie pop,
schlock-a-billy,
hip-hop,
electronica, hand-cranked
wax cylinders,
punk rock,
exotica, downtown
art music, radio improvisation, cooking instructions, old noise, classic
radio airchecks,
found sound, comedy,
call-in shows,
anti-fascist lectures, off-kilter kids' music, interviews with obscure radio personalities, interviews with notable science-world luminaries, spoken word mish-mashes,
Andrew Lloyd Webber soundtracks in languages other than English,
Gospel and
Country and western music.
They started in 1958 and they have many ppl supporting them and keeping it alive.for sure to keep a radio on for a long time like that is really hard specially nowadays we have many other ways to discover or get music.
Well here the link from wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WFMU and also the link to the wfmu
www.wfmu.orgTry to read their blog as well. They have amazing texts and also some mp3.
Another good way to know about music is last.fm. An internet radio you can build your own station. You can tag your music and while you are listening to your libray on Itunes or whatever it keeping updating your profile and they relate the bands or artists what you are listening to another ones and also you can meet new people with closer musical tastes. Sometimes you can also download some tracks. It is a good way as well:
www.last.fmBlogs…an infinite way to discover music as well. There are great ones you can read about music and sometimes download some tracks. I have many ones I consult to see what it is new, what are the new releases and bands…
